The 2007 GISCorps Volunteer Deployment Handbook was provided by GISCorps as a source of information for volunteers. Since 2007, technology has evolved such that, most of our projects are now conducted remotely from home with no travel involved. Still, much of the information in the handbook remains valid, particularly for on-site missions. The handbook describes the various types of missions to which GISCorps volunteers may be deployed, categorizing the missions broadly as Remote or On-site. The basic information included here describes the living conditions, personal needs, and the GIS environments that a volunteer may encounter, or need, to accomplish their task. It is not intended to be all-encompassing, but to provide a basic framework for the volunteer to build upon in order to have a successful deployment.
